Air Force Community Programs

AF Chess

The Air Force Chess program provides opportunities for families, youth, and other community members to participate in a recreational/educational activity. The Chess Program includes base, MACJOM, and Air Force level chess tournaments and is conducted through the Community Center (CC) or Youth Programs (YP). All persons eligible to use the CC or YP may participate in the base-level and MAJCOM tournaments. The program culminates with active duty Air Force members’ participation in the Inter-Service and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Chess tournaments.

Cookie Challenge

It’s time again to roll out the Colossal Cookie Challenge (CCC)! This event is conducted at Community Centers (CC) or at Youth Programs on bases without a CC or other designated base sites. The CCC provides an opportunity for families, youth, retirees, active duty Air Force, and other community members to participate in a fun and innovative event. Entries for judging are the following categories: Holiday or Special Occasions (decorated Cookies), No Bake Cookies (no oven needed), Healthy Cookies (must contain fruit, nuts, or cereal), or Cookie makers Special (everything that doesn’t fit in another category).

Family and Teen Talent Contest

As part of the Nell Buckley Performing Arts Series, HQ AFSVA/SVPY, in conjunction with HQ AFSVA/SVPCE, conducts an annual Air Force Worldwide Family & Teen Talent Contest. This program reinforces creative expression and helps our youth gain a better appreciation of the performing arts. The base-level program also provides a positive family experience for the entire base population.
